Fall Festivities in the Baltimore Area

It’s that time of year again for pumpkin spice (like it or not), campfires, apple cider, and all types of fall fun.  Don’t miss out on the festivities!  Mark your calendars for these great Charm City events.



Yoga at the Zoo (September 23) – Find your lion’s breath near the lions and perform Ustrasana (Camel Pose) with the camels at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. This is an all-levels class that takes place outside Penguin Coast at the zoo.   $20 for non-members, $10 for zoo members.  All tickets include zoo admission for the day.  Visit marylandzoo.org to register.


Free Fall Baltimore – There are hundreds of local events around Baltimore that are free in October.  This is an annual event that includes performances, workshops, family and children’s activities, music, and more.  This year, the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company will be performing Julius Caesar, Franco Platino will be teaching a Guitar Master Class at the Cohen-Davidson Family Theatre, and the National Aquarium will be hosting a Free Fall Friday Night on October 27.  These are just a few of the many activities!

Oregon Ridge Honey Harvest (October 7-8) – Celebrate all things honey at Oregon Ridge.  This year’s events include mead making, beeswax candle making, puppet shows, and demonstrations by various craftsmen.  For more information visit oregonridgenaturecenter.org.

Fells Point Fun Festival (October 7-8) – Visit local vendors and enjoy live music at this free event in Fells Point.  The event is held on Broadway, parking is available at garages on Caroline Street & Thames Street.  For more information visit fellspointfest.net. 

Sugarloaf Craft Festival (October 13-15) – The Sugarloaf Craft Festivals’ fall tour stops at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium this October.  Here you can browse the art of hundreds of artisans working with all types of mediums including sculpture, furniture & woodworking, pottery, paint, clothing & accessories, glass blowing, and more.  This is a great place to get a jump-start on your holiday shopping!  Information can be found at sugarloafcrafts.com.

Baltimore Beer Week (October 13-22) – For the ninth year, Charm City celebrates its craft brews.  Enjoy samples and tastings and events throughout the week. For up-to-date information visit baltimorebeerweek.org.

Harbor Harvest Children’s Festival (October 15) – Have fun picking pumpkins, riding ponies, and making crafts at Rash Field.  New for 2017 are a costume contestand parade.  The festival is free, but many activities require a small charge.  Information can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/981283785344647

Baltimore Running Festival (October 21) – Lace up your shoes and hit the streets of Charm City with this annual event.  Choose from distances from 5K to a full marathon or join a team of friends for the relay.  Following all races is a post-race party with beer, live music, food, and local vendors.  To join the fun visit thebaltimoremarathon.com.

Zoo Boo! (October 27-29) – Trick or treat around the zoo, play games, show off your costume, and enjoy entertainment & food (and, of course, the animals) at this fun annual event at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.  This event is free with zoo admission.  Visit marylandzoo.org for information and to register.

Spooky Science (October 29) – Create slime, watch a pumpkin launch, and decorate pumpkins at the Maryland Science Center.  These special events around the Science Center are free with paid admission. For information and to purchase tickets, visit mdsci.org.



Power Plant Live’s Annual Bacon Jam (November 11) – Sample bacon dishes from local restaurants, drink a few bacon-inspired cocktails, and enjoy music, games, and activities.  This is a family-friendly event benefitting Volunteering Untapped.  More information can be found on the event’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/296242580784472/.
